About
What is lj_support?
This is an official LiveJournal community where volunteers can discuss ways of helping people to use the site, and receive updates from staff members about site issues that might be affecting LiveJournal's users. This is not the place to obtain technical support. Anyone who needs help using LiveJournal should ask their questions in the Support center, not here. That rule applies even if you have permission to post in this journal.

Who can participate?
You can participate as a Support volunteer simply by submitting screened answers to our open Support requests. A screened answer is hidden until it's been approved by a volunteer who's been granted the "supporthelp" privilege.

Only volunteers who have earned the supporthelp privilege are eligible for membership in this community, so your join requests will be rejected unless you have done so. However, you don't have to have membership here in order to participate in Support -- just a few screened or approved answers each week counts you as an active volunteer for our purposes. We strongly urge that active volunteers watch this community from their Friends page.

Can I help in other languages?
Support requests sometimes come in in languages other than English, and we strive to help people in their native language whenever possible. These requests can be answered in the language they are written in. Please also send a second answer that states it is a translation and translate both the original request and your answer into English. Please do not use automated online translators to create answers in another language.

Where can I find other resources about support?
The first place to look is the Support Guide, which provides information on Support regulations, pointers to answering well, and how to get more information. The community [info]learn_support is a place for all Support volunteers to ask questions and learn more about Support.

Each public Support category has its own community. Some of these are intended for all volunteers and some are just for supporthelps. The userinfo for each community will explain who might want to read it. They are:
[info]support_comms
[info]support_entries
[info]support_general
[info]support_mobile
[info]support_sb
[info]support_styles
[info]support_syn
[info]support_upi
[info]support_web and [info]web_ui

Also, [info]support_interim is the community for volunteers holding "interim" support privileges.
